Blakeman recognized as the Arctic Warrior of the Week

Congratulations to Senior Airman Derek Blakeman of Bremerton, Washington, a 673d Healthcare Operations Squadron aerospace medical technician for being recognized as the Arctic Warrior of the Week!

In his role as an aerospace medical technician during the peak of the pandemic, Blakeman stepped outside of his day-to-day outpatient clinic duties to cover in-patient shifts in the medical surgical unit which enabled operations during a 30% technician manning deficit. Blakeman’s flexibility ensured continued services for the hospital’s COVID-19 expansion unit. Furthermore, Blakeman worked at the installation's influenza line where he administered over 100 vaccines. His efforts were integral in the vaccination compliance for 90.1% of all active-duty members on JBER. Lastly, Blakeman was the primary DJ for the 2021 JBER Air Force Ball where he helped promote and increase the morale for all attendees.

The Arctic Warrior of the Week is an award highlighting JBER’s top-performing Airmen.
