On December 21, the day with the longest time of darkness, St. John Lutheran Church will host a Blue Christmas service, joined by the Palmer United Protestant Church.
While the world is celebrating the season by singing carols and stringing lights and sharing happy greetings, many are struggling with sadness or the “blues.” For many, it is not a time to be merry. It is instead a time of sadness that reaches to the depths of our souls. Many are feeling the pain and emptiness and grief brought about by circumstances, events, losses and changes that have been beyond our ability to control or manage.
The Blue Christmas service is an opportunity for people to gather at a church this Christmas without the joyful sounds and trappings of the season. It will be a quiet service, designed to address the darkness and “blues” filling our hearts and minds, and helping us find the ray of hope that can bring comfort.
Please join us at 440 E. Elmwood across from the Borough building in Palmer at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, for a service of comfort and hope on the longest day of darkness. For more information, call 907-745-3338.
