Valley Residential Services has received a grant from the Mat-Su Borough Human Services Community Matching Grant Program to fund a project to provide a human services housing advocate to its staff.
This $17,000 grant for fiscal year 2014 will be used to cover the salary of a staff member to assist with the housing and related services for people with special needs who are not represented by a caseworker. VRS plans to offer advice and referrals to those persons in need of housing assistance in order to get or keep their current housing. In this way, VRS hopes to help get more people housed and keep them housed.
