All I Saw Cookware’s cake baking contest drew 14 entrants with seven submitting cakes for judging and donation to the Wasilla Senior Center. Chef Paul of Moose Bites judged the cakes and selected winners.
First place went to Patricia Hatfield for her white almond cake with raspberry butter cream frosting. Second place went to Marion Ramano for her chocolate raspberry ganache cake. And third place went to Dorothy Custer for her peanut butter pumpkin cake.
Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel in Wasilla and Anchorage has announced that Glenn Steiner, CFSP and licensed FD, is now working for them. He has more than 22 years of experience and worked for Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla before coming to work for Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel in Wasilla and Anchorage. The Alaska Miners Association Tradeshow will be held 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 7-13 at the Sheraton Hotel in Anchorage. Mat-Su Convention and Visitors Bureau is hosting a seminar about the development of South Denali as part of its Nov. 18 annual meeting at Settlers Bay Lodge.
From 9 to 10:30 a.m., panelists from the Alaska State Parks, Mat-Su Borough, Princess Tours and the National Parks Service will give a roundtable presentation on the projects taking place in Denali State Park and give an overview of the economic impacts they have on the Mat-Su Borough, including tourism businesses.
From 11 a.m. to noon, the staff and board of directors will outline accomplishments in the last year, provide a glimpse at the marketing efforts for the next year and listen to members’ concerns, questions and comments.
At noon, the annual Stars of the Industry awards will be presented to leaders in the tourism industry.

There are weekly Toastmasters meetings in the Valley, one in Palmer in the evening and one in the morning in Wasilla.
