Mat-Su Borough Mayor Vern Halter, Palmer Mayor Edna DeVries and Wasilla Mayor Bert Cottle will present their end-of-the-year reports to a joint meeting of the Palmer and Wasilla chambers of commerce Wednesday in Palmer. Networking time begins at 11:45 a.m. with the program beginning at noon. The program fee is $5, lunch is $15 or a soup and salad option is $8. The 2016 Taste of Talkeetna will be held from 4-8 p.m. Dec. 10 and will feature fare from seven local restaurants: Denali Brew Pub, Kahiltna Bistro, Latitude 62,’ Mountain High Pizza Pie, Talkeenta Roadhouse, the Flying Squirrel Bakery and the West Rib Pub and Grill. Tickets are $50 each. According to the Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce, after dinner the fun will move to the Fairview Inn, where the chamber will continue the night by drawing the names of eight winners for a range of prizes. Bonnie Quill, executive director of the Mat-Su Convention and Visitors Bureau, was recently reelected to the board of directors for Destination Marketing Association of the West for a two-year term.
According to a press release from the CVB, DMA West is a regional professional association serving more than 145 destination-marketing organizations in the western US and Canada.
Visit Anchorage’s CEO Julie Saupe also was elected the board president during the association’s annual Education Summit in late September, giving Alaska two representatives on the panel.
The Greater Wasilla Chamber of Commerce recently announced results for two board seats up for election.
According to the chamber, incumbent Stephanie Berta and Tammy Lincoln were chosen by voting members.
Berta has been a Wasilla resident for 13 years and is a business banking relationship manager and commercial lender at Wells Fargo Bank. Lincoln moved to Alaska in 1986 and currently works as the marketing manager for Mat-Su Title Agency.
