Austin joins Legacy Group

Wasilla’s Debra Austin has joined the Legacy Group as a Senior Registered Client Associate. Austin has more than 29 years of financial industry experience, as well as a degree in business administration management from Alaska Pacific University. Cruz re-appointed to AGDC board

Palmer’s Dave Cruz has been re-appointed by Gov. Bill Walker to serve on the Alaska Gasline Development Corportation Board of Directors. Cruz is the president of Cruz Companies, which specializes in oil field services, heavy civil construction, remote camp construction, tug and barge operations and a variety of other construction support activities. He has served on a number of boards and commissions, including the Matanuska-Susitna Borough Port Commission, the Resource Development Council for Alaska, and Associated General Contractors of Alaska. AGDC is governed by a seven-member board of directors, which includes five public members and two commissioners.

Big Lake Chamber seeks derby sponsors

The Big Lake Chamber of Commerce and Burkeshore Marina will host the 6th Annual Fall Family Fishing Derby on September 26 and 27 on Big Lake, and sponsors are needed to help with the event. Interested sponsors should contact the chamber by August 30 at biglake@mtaonline.net.

Airfare assistance offered for cancer patients

ConocoPhillips and BP Alaska will expand Corporate Angel Network’s mission by providing free air transportation for cancer patients traveling to treatment between Anchorage and Fairbanks. ConocoPhillips Alaska and BP are offering empty seats to cancer patients and family members on their Monday and Thursday scheduled flights between Anchorage and Fairbanks.
