Innovative alt-rock legends CAKE will go “The Distance” to Alaska as the first act confirmed for the 2026 ConocoPhillips Alaska Concert Series at the Alaska State Fair.
The group will perform on Thursday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. at Borealis Theatre. Member and artist presale begins Nov. 18, with tickets opening to the general public at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, at alaskastatefair.org.
Formed in Sacramento, California, in 1991, CAKE quickly stood apart from the grunge-dominated rock scene of the era with an ever-inventive sound defined by dry, deadpan vocals, sharp wit and trumpet flourishes. Seamlessly blending numerous genres and influences, the band established itself as a mainstay of American alternative music from the 1990s to today.
Across their catalog, CAKE has produced numerous chart-topping alt-rock singles, including “Never There,” which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart; “Short Skirt/Long Jacket,” which peaked at No. 7 on the Alternative Airplay chart; and “Sick of You,” which rose to No. 4 on the Alternative Songs chart.
Their most recent studio album, Showroom of Compassion, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In addition to an active national touring schedule, CAKE is currently at work on their ninth album, slated for release in fall 2025.
CAKE fans can choose between concert-only tickets or tickets including Fair admission (discounted and valid only for the day of the concert). Tickets that include Fair admission must be purchased by Thursday, Aug. 20. Detailed ticket options and pricing are available at alaskastatefair.org. Convenience fees apply to all online ticket purchases.
The ConocoPhillips Alaska Concert Series is a marquee event at the annual Alaska State Fair, scheduled for Aug. 21 to Sept. 7, 2026.
