Carol Joan Milliman Monington peacefully passed away at her home in Wasilla, Alaska on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017. Carol had been struggling with heart issues, diabetes and kidney failure for several years.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Thomas Monington; children Matthew, Nathan and Meghan; sisters Jeanette, Dianna, Susan and Peggy; brothers Michael and David. She is proceeded in death by her daughter, Carol Dian Monington (1974); father, Frank; mother, Margaret; stepmother, Kathy; mother-in-law, Geraldine; sister-in-law, Sharon.
An avid lifelong writer and member of the Wasilla Writing Group, Carol was a published author of children’s educational books. She entertained us all with her humorous, semi-autobiographical tales. Carol loved learning and she obtained her master’s degree in special education from Utah State University in 1993. She owned and operated several Montessori schools and she taught special needs children in the Anchorage school district. Carol was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Services will be held at the LDS Wasilla Stake Center on Monday, Nov. 13, 2017 at 1 p.m.
