Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Charisse Sann Echola, 73, passed away at her Willow home in the morning hours of July 5, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Charisse was born to Arnold and Sally Echola on May 29th, 1950. Her formative years had much movement, due to Arnold's work with the military, but her family enjoyed the beauty of many different states. Even living in England before settling in Willow Alaska in 1961. Being one of 4 graduates from Talkeetna High in 1969, she started her family with first son Christopher Michael. Followed by Jason William and later her daughter, Tisha Roxanne.
In 1991 Charisse attended college and became a certified nursing aide; making the Dean's list along the way. Charisse worked with the elderly until her parents passing. She then switched to in-home health care. Her last job was a woman who became her best friend and showed her how to make jewelry; thus spurring the creation of her own business, Rocking Chair Treasures, from which she sold her unique handmade items.
Charisse is survived by her older brother Michael Riley Echola and her younger sister, Patrice Louise Echola and family of Colorado. Her eldest son Christopher Negus and family of Willow, AK. Her second son Jason Negus and family of Boise, ID and her daughter Tisha Negus and family of Talkeetna, AK. Charisse was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Spending time with her family made Charisse the happiest. The love she held for them all was undeniable.
As Charisse requested, her ashes will be scattered into the ocean. A memorial has been scheduled for June 2024 in Homer Alaska.
