WASILLA — Brenda Young has been promoted to the position of president of Charter College’s Alaska campuses.
Young most recently served the college as manager of the Wasilla campus. In her new role, she is responsible for providing executive leadership and overseeing the management of outreach and admissions, financial aid, academics, career services, and student support programs for the campuses.
Young is focused on increasing student population and growing the number of programs offered.
“Promoting Charter College to our Alaskan communities is a high priority. The programs we offer, from certificate through MBA, allow students to fast-track into their chosen fields,” she said. “Our current programs reflect today’s Alaskan employment market and future offerings will continue that trend.”
In addition to serving Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley, Young is conducting an outreach campaign in remote areas of the state where Charter College’s online program can offer education to those living far from standard educational institutions.
Before joining Charter College, Young worked for Job Corps — a federally funded, national training and education program for young adults — in a variety of roles, including senior manager of outreach, admissions and career transition. Prior to Job Corps, she served as director of training and director of admissions at two national training and education organizations.
Young earned a Bachelor of Science in communication from the University of Phoenix and plans to complete her Master of Business Administration with Charter College.
