MAT-SU — The Mat-Su Community Chorus is excited to bring Broadway to the Valley this month, thanks to a Community Arts Development grant from the Alaska State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. The grant assists in expanding the group’s 2014 spring concert venue.
Having finished a successful presentation of Handel’s Messiah, in collaboration with the Mat-Su Messiah Choir and Orchestra, the group is in production for its Showtime concert series. Performances are scheduled at 4 p.m., Sunday, at St. John Lutheran Church in Palmer, and at 4 p.m., May 10, at the Willow Community Center.
The 30-member Mat-Su Community Chorus is a non-profit, 501(c)3, organization and has entertained the Valley since the 1970s. The group performs a variety of music, from Handel to Gershwin and Mozart to Bernstein, under the direction of Megan Webb and accompanied by Mary McKean.
Tickets are available at the door, and seniors and students are admitted free.
New members are always welcome. Find them on Facebook for more details.
