Courtney Michelle Horwath

Lifelong Alaskan resident, Ms. Courtney Michelle Horwath, 40, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, with her family by her side.

Courtney was born March 7, 1983, in Soldotna, Alaska to Gary and Mary Horwath. She was homeschooled through 12th grade and received her bachelors and masters in counseling from Cincinnati Christian University. She got her doctorate in children and family at University of Alaska Fairbanks. Upon finishing her master's degree in Ohio, she returned home and worked as a counselor in the Kenai/Soldotna area. In the years working towards her doctorate, she worked in Fairbanks then lived and worked in Anchorage before starting her own practice in Wasilla where she helped many people as a caring counselor. She always went above and beyond to help her clients.

Courtney was a figure skater as well as a skating instructor while in high school. She always enjoyed Alaskan outdoor activities from her earliest days of riding her horse, hiking or cross-country skiing.

She loved her Lord and Savior and trusted him throughout her long cancer battle. The lights of her life were her children Oskar and Ember and her brave effort to survive was to stay here for them.

She is survived by her parents Gary and Mary Cheryl Horwath of Soldotna; sisters, Erin Melissa Hulien of Wasilla, Julianna Marisa Barnes of Soldotna, and Amy Marie Roberts of Eagle River; son, Oskar North Oliver of Wasilla, and Ember Hope Oliver of Wasilla and 6 nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of life in Kenai, Oct 1st and memorial donations may be made in memory of Courtney, to a Rescue and Recovery Organization for victims of human trafficking, online at DarkHorseGlobal.org. More information can be gotten by calling 907-398-8868.
