PALMER — Prince William Sound Community College presents Lisa D’Amour’s “Detroit” on stage at the Glenn Massay Theater on the Mat-Su College campus in Palmer for one show only March 28.
The production is guest-directed by Ryan Buen, and features Robert Covington, Heidi Franke, Meg McKinney, Dawson Moore and Jay Stevens.
The play tells the story of a couple who see sudden signs of life in the deserted house next door and invites their new neighbors over for a barbecue. As the action unfolds, we learn that the new neighbors met at rehab, neither is employed, and they don’t own any furniture. The quintessential American backyard party turns quickly turns into something more dangerous.
“This play won’t be for everyone,” says producer/actor Dawson Moore, “but the people who like it are going to love it. It’s like a feminist version of Quentin Tarantino. It’s wildly funny, and scary. It’s one of the most ambitious productions the college has staged, and features a cast of some of the best actors I’ve worked with in the last decade. That’s why we decided to take our first tour from the college.”
Tickets are $15 and are available at the door. The show is intended for adult audiences.
