PALMER — Blood Bank of Alaska and local cartoonist Chad Carpenter of Tundra Comics have partnered to create a new artwork called “Donating Alaska Style.”
The Carpenter print features two adventurers making their way through the wilderness who stumble upon a suspicious Alaska blood drive.
“I was thrilled to be a part of this project,” Carpenter said. “Donating blood is one of the easiest and most heroic things a person can do.”
Everyone who registers to donate blood during the Alaska State Fair at Blood Bank of Alaska’s mobile drives or Anchorage centers will receive a free T-shirt featuring the cartoon. The image also is featured on a coloring page, a print and a poster.
Blood Bank of Alaska will have a blood drive from noon to 8 p.m. daily at the fair by the Purple Gate. Walk-ins are welcome. On average, blood donation takes 45 minutes to an hour. Donors should prepare for blood donation by eating well, drinking plenty of fluids and bringing an ID.
To donate, call (907) 222-Blood.
