MAT-SU — Students ages 6 to 12 are invited to enter the Wheels of Hope for Kids, Riding for Respect contest for a chance to win a new bike and helmet.
Winners will be announced and prizes distributed during the Safety on Wheels bike rodeo at Mat-Su Regional Outpatient Center June 14.
Like its companion program Wheels of Hope that provides a vehicle to a local person, NAPA AutoCare Centers Owners Group is sponsoring the contest in partnership with Alaska Family Services Inc.
To enter, kids who live in the Mat-Su Borough should draw a picture or write in 50 words or less what respect means to them. Fill out the entry form — forms are online at akas.org — get a parent’s or guardian’s signature and turn it all in to an Alaska Family Services office or any of the NAPA stores in the Mat-Su Valley by 4 p.m., June 12.
The program is aimed at ending violence in local homes, schools and community by encouraging kids to choose respect.
