Farm Day Fun series is underway, offering a variety of family oriented activities

PALMER—The Farm Day Fun summer series designed for families begins today at the Matanuska Experiment Farm and Extension Center and will continue all summer.

Sessions will be Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon on June 13, June 27, July 11, July 25 and conclude on Aug. 8. Each class will have a theme and an instruction, craft or game. Sessions will feature activities and even snacks related to the topic of the day.

Today’s session will include an introduction to garden basics, a tour of the farm’s gardens and vegetable planting by participants. Lee Hecimovich and Melissa Clampitt of the Palmer Cooperative Extension office will lead each class. Upcoming topics include forestry, outdoor exploration, an animal safari and harvesting.

The farm is located at 1509 S. Georgeson Drive in Palmer. Each session costs $10 per family. Since class sizes are limited, registration is required, at https://bit.ly/2snGVgx.
