PALMER — Bookworms and other eager readers have time to search downtown Palmer for the iconic storybook character in his trademarked striped shirt and black-rimmed glasses.
There are 18 locations in downtown Palmer where folks can search for Waldo. To participate, pick up a “Find Waldo Local Palmer!” passport at participating businesses and began collecting stamps for Waldo sightings.
The first 100 Waldo seekers to get their passports stamped or signed at all 18 businesses can bring their passports back to Fireside Books to collect prizes and be entered in a grand prize drawing set for July 31, with the top prize being a six-volume deluxe set of Waldo books.
It’s free to participate and the Waldo hunt continues throughout July.
The event celebrates the longevity of the Waldo series, created in 1987 by Martin Handford. There are now more than 58 million Waldo books in 18 languages in print worldwide.
Fireside is one of 265 independent bookstores across the country leading local Waldo safaris. For more information, contact 745-2665.
