Fire at Burger Jim's Restaurant

All available hands were called from Central Mat-Su and Palmer Fire Departments to respond to a fire at a strip mall located at 8301 E Palmer-Wasilla Hwy, Palmer. The strip mall that houses Subway Restaurant, Burger Jim's and Knik Country Liquor Store was affected. Thick black smoke began to enter Subway through the vents prompting employees to call emergency services. Burger Jim's was closed in observance of Memorial Day is reported as the source of the smoke according to employees from Subway and Knik Country. The fire appeared to be isolated to the back of the building. Burger Jim's sits in the middle of the building which houses the three businesses. The fire has been reported as under control.
