Fireside Books to celebrate ‘Independent Bookstore Day’

PALMER — Join Fireside Books and independent bookstores across the country as they celebrate Independent Bookstore Day today.

Fireside Books, 720 S. Alaska St., will celebrate with a presentation on book art by Anne Prevost at 10 a.m.; story time with Deb Bohm at 11 a.m.; one-minute portraits with Julie Meer at noon; a panel presenting tongue-in-cheek “relationship advice,” with authors Deb Vanasse, Kris Farmen, Jackie Ivie and Timothy Bateson, at 1 p.m.; music by Anna Lynch at 2 p.m.; publishing advice from Eowyn Ivey, Deb Vanasse and Vared Mares at 3 p.m.; and Haines author Heather Lende will sign books at 4 p.m. Her new book is titled “Find the Good: Unexpected Life Lessons from a Small-Town Obituary Writer.”

Lende also is part of a sold-out “Dinner with the Author” event at Turkey Red in Palmer.

Palmer musician Meggie Aube will perform music during the dinner event.
