WASILLA — Live music, food vendors and a who’s who of Mat-Su Valley breweries will highlight the inaugural Government Peak Music Festival, set for Aug. 20 at the recreation area near Hatcher Pass.

The event will be fundraiser hosted by the Mat-Su Trails and Parks Foundation, a nonprofit group that has handed out some $200,000 in trails and parks grants to date since its inception five years ago. According to the group, $80,000 worth of grants were awarded this spring.

Along with a beer garden and live music outside that will feature Denali Cooks, Braided River and the Carhartt Brothers, other bands featured inside the chalet will include Kyle Johnson, John Cooke, James Tyson, Aurora Davidson and the Nashville Trio.

According to the trails and parks group, the chalet also will feature an “exhibit hall” with information on other hiking, biking and trails groups in the Valley.

Ticket details have yet to be set. For more information, visit the MSTPF website at matsutrails.org.
