MAT-SU —Mat-Su Sertoma Club has announced grant recipients from its 2014 Mat-Su Polar Plunge event will be the Mat-Su Food Bank’s Food 4 Kids program and the Mat-Su Seahawkers Booster Club.
Since it was established in 2010 as a program with the Mat-Su Food Bank, Food 4 Kids has provided more than 60,000 fresh, healthy meals to youth in the Mat-Su Borough. The grant funds will assist in expanding its prepared meals efforts, which provides meals on the go.
Mat-Su Sea Hawkers promotes healthy kids through active events in the community. With additional funding, the group can expand its Pop Warner League by providing three additional teams with necessary safety equipment.
Grants will be awarded from funds raised during the 10th annual Mat-Su Polar Plunge Feb. 15, 2014, at LakeSide Bar and Grill on Wasilla Lake.
Mat-Su Sertoma offers free hearing screens to the public the first Saturday of every month at Wasilla Physical Therapy from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The club also will offer two $1,000 scholarships.
