The grant application deadline is Jan. 27 - today - for financial help attending Northern Industrial Training's eight-week structural welding program. The training will be provided under the state's STEP Grant Program from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., daily Feb. 6 to March 30. Grants covers tuition, fees and PPE.
The program combines classroom, lab and a strong emphasis on hands-on training. The training will cover SMAW and FCAW 3G and 4G welding positions. All students will have an opportunity to test for their welding certifications.
Applicants must be Alaska residents who are at least age 19 and have earned a high school diploma or equivalency.
