WASILLA — The annual Great Alaskan Aviation Gathering is set to return to the Alaska State Fairgrounds Saturday, May 6.

This is the third time the Alaska Airmen’s Association has hosted the Great Alaska Aviation Gathering in Palmer. There was no 2020 event due to the pandemic and the 2021 show moved to the Alaska State Fairgrounds in 2021 to accommodate social distancing measures with the Fair’s large open space.

According to the Alaska Airmen’s Association’s official website, holding the event at the Fairgrounds made for a prosperous event with many asking for it to return to the Valley. The tradition continues onward and upward this year.

This is an opportunity for Alaskans to gather in one place to celebrate aviation and plan for the upcoming flying season. According to the official website, this is the largest free aviation event in the country.

Visitors will have the opportunity to browse through vendor booths and food trucks, aircraft displays, a Fly Market and Swap Meet, a show and shine aircraft show, and youth events.
