Hunter rescued from Knik River Valley

PALMER — The Alaska Rescue Coordination Center performed a rescue of a sheep hunter in the Knik River Valley near Friday Creek on Wednesday. Alaska State Troopers report that at 1:25 p.m. on September 15, a stranded hunter sent an SOS signal from a satellite communications device. The adult male was stuck in snow on a steep and unstable slope, and the Rescue Coordination Center deployed a helicopter rescue team to transport the hunter to the Palmer Airport, where he declined medical treatment or evaluation.
