Hunter wins ‘Ice Classic’
BIG LAKE — Ricky Hunter of Wasilla won $500 in the 2013 Big Lake Ice Classic with a winning guess of May 22, 5:10 p.m. His guess was just 15 hours and 4 minutes from the actual time the van fell through the ice at 8:14 a.m., May 23.
The Big Lake Ice Classic is an annual fundraiser where contestants purchase a and try to guess when the ice will melt and the “ice breaker” vehicle will fall into Big Lake in the spring.
The remainder of proceeds from the fundraiser will be given as a college scholarship to a Houston High School senior.
