If our founders gave all for us, should we give less to our children?

It has been a long and dark government night for freedom, personal privacy and state’s rights during this new intrusive era of Leviathan. Next year, however, is an election year and with your help a new dawn will begin breaking across the horizon. President Theodore Roosevelt once said, “The American people are slow to wrath, but once their anger is kindled it burns like a consuming fire.” It has been kindled among grassroots Republicans, Libertarians, Independents and Democrats who value their Constitutional right to privacy.

This email is but one trumpet call to action to defend our Constitution. Every generation of Americans has heard it and every generation of Americans has answered its call. Now it’s our turn to answer its call.

My name is Daniel Hamm and I am a grassroots Republican volunteer living in state District 8 in Palmer. Our district chair is Palmer City Council member and former state Sen. Edna DeVries.

I am writing this to encourage everyone to volunteer. Freedom and privacy are on the rack. Those who value their freedom of speech and assembly must now volunteer. Those who value their right to bear arms must now volunteer. Those who value their personal privacy from having all their private communications and banking information illegally searched and seized by the government must now volunteer. Those who want freedom and privacy in health care must now volunteer. Freedom itself is on trial and we the voting citizens are its last defense.

Political parties are formed like pyramids. There is a large base supporting a small top. If the base is large and powerful it supports a strong top that reflects its values. If the base is weak and apathetic a few at the top can become corrupt and usurp the freedoms of the base. Unfortunately, the corruption displayed in both major political parties has created mass apathy among our voting public that is displayed by low voter turnouts. This apathy must now change or things will only get worse. Apathy is the pale horse of freedom. Please volunteer and get involved at the local district level.

If you are a Republican or are considering becoming one, my district (currently District 8, which may get changed to District 11 with redistricting) is recruiting new members for our annual district convention. The date has not been formally set, but it will be around the end of February or first part of March 2014. The caveat is that you must be a registered as a Republican a full 90 days prior to the district convention.

At the district convention, we will vote in new district officers and organize for the upcoming campaign season. If you live in the Palmer area, or in any other region for that matter, and want to see your personal liberty, privacy and limited government values reflected in your political leadership, please register soon and attend a district convention in your local area. Not participating tends to result in politicians getting elected with different campaign rhetoric, but bearing the same fruit once in office. We need tons of strong people to show up and offer their volunteer service because the political top is only as strong as its base. Bad rulers cannot easily run roughshod over a strong base, but they certainly can over a weak one.

I’m sending this out to a large group of email addresses compiled from various places and I have no way of discriminating between which ones are local and current and which ones are not. Please reply with the message “remove from email list” or ignore if this email if this has reached you in error. On the other hand, if you are interested in volunteering in defense of our Constitution and limited government, please get in contact with us or with the district in which you live. Thomas Jefferson wrote, “We hold these truths to be self-evident: That all men are created equal; they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

We the voters give that consent every election, and that consent begins at the local district level.

The 1970s were a dark decade of sustained big government manipulation of our private sector perpetuated by both parties that nearly wrecked our economy. The dark malaise of that decade gave rise to a liberty Republican named Ronald Reagan who promised a new morning in America. A new morning did dawn indeed when freedom and privacy were restored back to the individual. Between 1980 and 1988, more than 14 million new jobs were created in what the Europeans called “The American Miracle.” By contrast, Europe embraced the leviathan welfare state with the result of creating zero net jobs during that same time period.

The present dark night overshadowing our country has been much darker in the past such as during the War of 1812 when our national anthem was written. With enough faith, determination and volunteering, freedom and prosperity will again pierce the dark horizon “by the dawn’s early light.”
