JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska, – Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson will conduct Operation Clean Sweep, an installation-wide event in support of Anchorage Chamber of Commerce’s 53rd annual Citywide Cleanup May 1 to 31. The goal is to clean the entire installation of all trash and discarded items that have accumulated throughout the winter.

In support of this community event, Aurora Housing will run its Resident Spring Clean Campaign April 26 to May 1, then units will participate in an installation-wide cleanup May 3 to 21.All JBER units, including mission partners and tenant organizations are responsible for cleaning their assigned areas of the installation, including motor pools and parking lots. In addition, units will police and groom all assigned common use areas. Living quarters will also be cleaned.Base members are responsible for edging and sweeping sidewalks, removing dead plants, mowing and raking, cleaning and weeding flowerbeds, cleaning parking lots, fence lines and ditches, and identifying and submitting work orders for items needing repair or posing hazards.
