Judge stays pot prop lawsuit vs. MSB until after election

PALMER — Superior Court Judge David Zwink denied expedited proceedings Monday and stayed consideration of two marijuana lawsuits filed in early September against the Matanuska-Susitna Borough by marijuana business owners. The plaintiffs oppose a citizen-driven proposition on the ballot that asks voters to prohibit the commercialization of pot in the borough. The judge ruled that the matter will be considered after the Oct. 4 election.

The court has combined the two cases into a single case. Read the court order posted here.

Two lawsuits were filed in early September by marijuana business developers against the Matanuska-Susitna Borough and against 15 promoters of a ballot initiative that seeks to ban pot businesses here, if voters approve it on Oct. 4.
