Lecture series examines health risks of coal

Alaska Community Action on Toxics, Cook Inletkeeper and Mat Valley Coalition are sponsoring a lecture series on the human health concerns about coal featuring Dr. Alan Lockwood. A physician and professor of neurology, Lockwood is the principal author of Physicians for Social Responsibility’s report “Coal’s Assault on Human Health.” The report describes the impacts of coal on the human body. The lecture series includes presentations at:

• Anchorage at Out North Theater — reception at 6:30 p.m. and lecture at 7 p.m., Feb. 14.

• Palmer Train Depot — reception at 6:30 p.m. and lecture at 7 p.m., Feb. 16.

• Homer at the Islands and Ocean Visitor Center — reception at 6:30 p.m. and lecture at 7 p.m., Feb. 17.
