LETTER: MEA’s new meters raise a number of questions

To the editor:

I just read your article in the Eagle about MEA’s new meters and I feel I need to respond to that.

There are a few important and unanswered questions in your assessment. Those AMI’s (also called smart meters) are, according to numerous reports, an FED — mandated health hazard and designed to make snooping easier. As if we don’t have enough gadgets snooping on us already.

Apparently many people got sick because of them. MEA has illegally installed those meters, hence altering the homes without the homeowners’ consent.

Just what is the difference between a regular meter and a smart meter and what is the difference between the AMIs and the new AMIs?

The one thing I gathered is that the Electric Company can now shut off our power at will if they believe we use too much of it (remotely).

Do you really believe there was an issue of people not reporting a power outage? And if I buy an appliance I don’t need MEA to figure out for me how much power it uses.

Have a good day, from a concerned citizen.
