The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Mat-Su is a special time when people in the Valley gather to have a lot of fun fighting back against cancer.
Relay is also the time that the community walks in honor and in memory of loved ones who have and are battling cancer. The luminary ceremony takes place after dark at midnight between June 14 and 15. Candles are lit inside of personalized bags and places around the Relay track as glowing tribute to those in the Valley who’ve been affected by cancer.
You do not have to be present to purchase or have a luminary lit in a friend/loved one’s honor or memory. To purchase a luminary, visit MatSuRelay.org or call Amy at 357-2288.
