PALMER — Nearly 200 women participated in the second annual Who Let the Girls Out 5-kilometer walk and run April 25 in Palmer.
Becky Maxwell posted the top time in the event, sponsored by the Valley Women’s Running Team. Maxwell finished the 5K course in 22 minutes and 50 seconds, nine seconds ahead of runner-up Kari Moss. Jill Aho (23:21) placed third, and Kristina Barnes (23:38) and Corrie Fruhwirth (24:23) rounded out the top 5.
Maxwell was the first of 97 runners to cross the finish line, according to event results, and a total of 175 women either walked or ran the course.
VMRT is a nonprofit organization with the purpose of providing educational and recreational running programs to women in the Valley. The club encourages women to set and meet personal goals and increase the enjoyment and satisfaction of running and walking, according to information submitted by VMRT.
