Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Lucinda Ann Turner (Cindy or Sissy) went home to be with our lord on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016. Cindy was born December 27, 1953, to Arthur and Selma Turner and if you knew her or were touched by
her in this life “You had your own earth Angel.”
Cindy was kind, gentle, nurturing and a very caring person. Although Cindy never had her own children
she was a second mother to so many others including her 4 younger siblings, Denise, Sheli, Kevin and
Darcy Turner, Amanda (Olson) Churchill, Jenalee Turner and Aria Fuller. She was known as “Ninny
Momma” and “My Utter Mutter.” She was always willing to step in and help other people raise their
children when she was needed. It was her calling by the lord.
She is preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Selma Turner; sister, Joyce Quigley (Turner); stepparents,
Fred and Lucy (Thompson-Gilles-Turner) Hobbs; and stepbrother Greg Gilles.
She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories, siblings, Jerene Olson (Turner); James and Linda (Turner)
Olson; Paul and Robin (Hobbs) Turner; Cathy Gilles; Lorrie (Turner) Eakman; Steven and Denise (Turner)
Vigstol, Jeff and Sheli (Turner) Asplund; Kevin and Chastine (Yang Shu Jen) Turner and Darcy Turner and S/O
Andy Shaw. She is also survived by 9 nephew; 9 nieces; 15 great nephews; 13 great nieces; and many
wonderful friends.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Faith Bible Fellowship, 14225 W. Kluane Rd., Big lake, Alaska 99623 on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016 at 12 p.m. Refreshments following downstairs in reception hall. Arrangements were under the Direction of Valley Funeral Home, Wasilla Chapel.
