MAT-SU — A recent Greater Wasilla Chamber of Commerce luncheon was the scene of a presentation of a $5,000 donation to Mat-Su College from the Northrim Bank.
Making the presentation were Northrim Bank President Joe Beedle, Mat-Su College Director Talis Colberg, Northrim Bank Assistant Vice President Business Development Officer Erica Bills, and Anita DeVore from Northrim’s Wasilla branch manager.
Colberg said the gift is the second such contribution to the college from Northrim Bank in two years. The donations will be used to establish “The Northrim Bank Lecture Series,” which will be launched in 2014 when the new college theater opens.
“Receiving both recognition and support from a statewide institution is a major milestone in the evolution of our school,” Colberg said.
The lectures will feature business topics and the fund will be used to provide travel and honorariums for quality speakers.
Also receiving gifts at the November chamber luncheon were John Cannon, executive director of Mat-Su Services for Children and Adults, which received $20,000, and Eddie Edzelle, executive director of the Food Pantry of Wasilla, received $1,743.
