MAT-SU — Mat-Su Farm Bureau has awarded its Buy Local Award to Fred Meyer and Bear Tooth Theaterpub.

The Buy Local Award is presented annually to restaurants, institutions and grocery stores that purchase and promote Alaska-grown farm products.

Fred Meyer was nominated by Mat-Su farmers based on the total volume of local farm products purchased and because of the company’s enthusiastic promotion of Alaska-grown lettuce, carrots, potatoes and many other farm commodities.

“We’re pleased to present these two remarkable businesses the important Buy Local Award,” noted Mat-Su Farm Bureau President Don Berberich. “Our members are stewards of the land, and Fred Meyer and Bear Tooth Theaterpub are partners in promoting local farmers and sustainability. This synergy enhances Alaskan agriculture development and empowers industry success.”
