Mat-Su Regional Medical Center is named to list of great places to work in health care

PALMER — Mat-Su Regional Medical Center has earned a spot on a major national list of great places to work in health care.

John Lee, CEO of Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, said the Valley hospital is the only Alaska health care organization included in the Becker Healthcare’s 2014 list of “150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare.”

“It’s a very, very prestigious honor,” he said in an interview Friday.

As an indication of the award’s merit, Lee said their peers on the list include many well-respected health care institutions in the nation, such as the Mayo Clinic, the Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins Medicine.

“We’ve got a great team assembled at Mat-Su and this exciting news is a testament to the way each member of our team contributes daily to the positive atmosphere,” Lee said in a press release. “It shows in the way we work with each other and how we serve our patients and their families.”

He said the award was made following a detailed evaluation of the facility based on a range of criterion related to work environment, professional development opportunities and staff benefits.

In the past few years, Mat-Su Regional Medical Center has earned a string of impressive honors, including the Mountain Pacific Highest Quality Care award for four consecutive years and the Joint Commission Top Performer on Key Quality Measures. The facility also was named the 10th Most Beautiful Hospital in America by Soliant Health.
