Dear Editor,
We have not had good silver salmon escapements in the valley since 2008, yet little has been done to insure better runs for this year, or for the years in the future. Why are the commercial fisheries in the cook inlet open, or at least not seriously restricted yet, when silver escapement goals in the valley have not been met for years?
It seems like the management in charge of our fisheries do not look ahead, but instead carelessly risk our salmon runs that have been here as long as Alaska. Will the Matsu silver go extinct before something is done?
