CHUGIAK — Another night against the Chugiak Chinooks, another win for the Mat-Su Miners.
Zach Warren pitched six scoreless innings, and three different Miners drove in runs to lead Mat-Su to a 3-1 win over the Chinooks at Loretta French Field Saturday in Chugiak.
Warren became the second starter in as many nights to pitch at least six scoreless against Chugiak. Friday, Calvin LeBrun pitched seven shutout innings. It’s the fourth straight meeting of the season between the Alaska Baseball League rivals. Mat-Su is now 4-0 overall, and 2-0 in official league play.
Warren, a University of Tennessee product, allowed only two hits, while fanning seven and walking one. Brick Paskiewicz pitched the ninth to earn his second save in as many nights.
Adam Caruso, Matt Diorio, Tanner Nishioka and Chris Hall finished with two hits each in the game. Caruso, Diorio and Vance Vizcaino drove in runs.
Nishioka is now hitting .615, with nine hits in his first four games as a Mat-Su Miner.
Mat-Su continues league play Saturday in Anchorage against the Bucs at 2 p.m. at Mulcahy Stadium.
