MAT-SU — Mat-Su Valley author Helen Hegener has written a new book about the history of sled dog use in Alaska.
Titled “Along Alaskan Trails, Adventures in Sled Dog History,” the book is a collection of true stories about Alaska sled dogs and the role they played in the development of the north. The book includes dozens of historic photos from the archives of the Alaska State Library, University of Alaska Fairbanks and other sources.
Published by Northern Light Media in July, “Along Alaskan Trails, Adventures in Sled Dog History,” costs $14, plus shipping.
