MAT-SU —The Mat-Su Borough and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will offer a free workshop from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., March 7 at the MSB Public Safety Building, 101 W. Swanson Ave., to teach people how to use its new wetlands website.
The website was developed to provide information about wetland identification, the functions of wetlands, project planning and permitting. It contains links to a wetlands map viewer that covers the central areas of the Mat-Su and answers many frequently asked questions about wetlands.
The workshop is geared toward builders, Realtors, engineers, surveyors and other persons involved with building or land management in the Mat-Su. The website, map viewer and workshop are all designed to give landowners information about their properties so they can plan projects with wetlands in mind.
For more information or to register for the workshop, contact Frankie Barker by March 1 at fbarker@matsugov.us or 746-7439.
