Noema Ruth Abbott, 60, of Wasilla, Alaska passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, after battling metastatic breast cancer for 7 years.
Ruth moved to Alaska with 5 daughters in 1985 to begin anew. She followed her calling to teach by earning her degree from UAA. She was remarried in 1992 and they were blessed with a daughter in 1996. For more than 20 years she poured love, encouragement, and wisdom into her students. She sought to help each student discover their unique talents. Her favorite field trip was taking students to the Seward Sealife Center where she enjoyed watching the puffins and octopus.
She took pleasure in the quiet moments. She could be found sitting among the tomatoes in the greenhouse or crafting potholders, pillowcases and quilts. She enjoyed reading devotionals, book club books, and any book her grandchildren recommended. Her homemade raspberry jam, chocolate chip cookies, and banana bread were family favorites.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Charles Abbott, brother, Joseph Hart, sister, Kim Parker, daughters, Laura Crawford, Shannon Angell, Sarah Thomas, Julia Crane, Christine Hart, Cora Abbott and 16 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and son.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 6th from 12-4 pm at Janssen’s Funeral Home, 6901 Blue Lupine Drive.
