As we wrap up 2014, Northrim Bank and its 298 employees look back on the contributions made during the past year. As a local, community bank, Northrim takes its commitment to Alaska very seriously. Employees are proud to be Alaskan and show their pride by supporting local organizations throughout the year with financial support as well as donating their time and expertise.
During the past year, employees participated in two major giving events contributing money through the local United Way campaign and the Bank’s White Elephant Auction. Both events are used to encourage giving to local charities that support the community. The United Way campaign continues to grow and saw an overall growth of 10% in 2014. The White Elephant Auction supports organizations in each of the areas where a Northrim branch is located. The total raised in 2014 for both events was $160,291. This total includes direct donations from employees and Northrim’s 50 percent match for employee gifts to United Way. Bank employees also volunteer in their local communities. Employees give generously of their time to support organizations that help strengthen the community and make Alaska a better place to live, work and play.
In addition to the generosity of employees, Northrim Bank also gives a large amount to support Alaska organizations. Each year, Northrim Bank focuses its corporate giving on organizations that help in community and economic development, programs to strengthen low income families, and higher education through the State of Alaska’s Education Tax Credit Program. During 2014, Northrim Bank contributed $532,655 to organizations throughout Alaska. “We are proud supporters of many organizations in Alaska not only with financial contributions, but also by sharing the expertise and passion of our employees with the community,” said Joe Beedle, President and CEO.
2014 was a year of big change at Northrim. The addition of 4 branches in Southeast Alaska increased Northrim’s Alaska footprint. Northrim is proud to begin to support organizations in Juneau, Ketchikan and Sitka as part of its annual charitable contributions throughout Alaska. The bank will also continue to encourage its employees to be involved in the community and share their expertise and passion.
