PALMER — October’s Palmer Art Walk is from 1 to 5 p.m., Oct. 12. This month’s event seeks to amplify the Great Palmer Pantry Push, an annual food collection drive that benefits the Palmer Food Bank. Last year, Valley residents brought in 25,000 cans and gave more than $6,000 during the push.
Food driver organizer Patti Dubler said there are about 60 donation sites around the Palmer area this year. She said more schools are participating this year as well.
“Schools are going to go way past what they did last year,” she said. “Some schools are even bringing kids over to let them put the food on the shelves themselves. I’m very impressed with the schools this year.”
Art Walk participants can join the fun by bringing in nonperishable cans of food to the Palmer Museum of History and Artto receive extra entries into the prize raffle. People who visit more than 10 stops on the Art Walk also will earn additional raffle entries this month.
