The Palmer Arts Council is hosting a live poetry reading at 203 Kombucha Saturday, April 16 from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
This event coincides with National Poetry Month, which is celebrated throughout the month of April. Palmer Arts Council Vice President Mabel Wimmer said it’s a marvelous opportunity to celebrate the value of self-expression and the pure charm of poetry.
This is an open mic event that’s open to all ages. There will be a sign-up sheet for poetry readers, and the first ten readers will receive t-shirts.
Palmer Arts Council hosts a variety of events throughout the year. They’re hosting a dreamcatcher workshop Saturday, April 23, and Sunday, April 24.
Wimmer said this is one of their first public events since the start of the pandemic. She said they’ve slowly been building up their momentum and they’re eager to connect with the community again.
“I think we’re doing better now than we have in two years. We use most of our funding to help support the arts in the community through membership. As we’re coming out of COVID, we’re getting more members,” Wimmer said.
