WASILLA- A fatal accident at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday resulted in one death and one arrest. WPD and AST responded to an accident at the intersection of the Parks Highway and Clapp Rd. Glenn Hamilton III was driving his 2004 Audi at a high rate of speed northbound along Clapp when he blew through a stop light and collided with Donna Swanson driving a 2014 Toyota sedan.
Swanson’s Corolla was not the only vehicle hit by Hamilton, as his Audi also hit the GMC truck driven by Rene Grant of Anchorage.
Hamilton was arrested on four charges: Felony failure to comply with conditions of probation for theft 2, Felony failure to comply with conditions of probation for Assault 3, each a $10,000 offense. He was also charged with $5,000 failure to appear warrant for Burglary 1 and Theft 2, and $2,500 felony arrest warrant for vehicle theft in the first degree.
Edward Swanson, a passenger in the Toyota, died on scene from the crash.
Four people were involved in three vehicles with one fatality and authorities are asking motorists to avoid the busy intersection. Troopers are continuing their investigation of the crash. One was reported dead and three were reported injured.
The accident closed the Parks highway at the intersection from 12:45 p.m. to 4:42 p.m., according to WPD.
“Life med was dispatched and AST has taken over the incident,” said Ken Barkley, Deputy Director of Emergency Services.
Investigation into this case is ongoing.
