In light of the recent flooding and winds in the Mat-Su Borough, we should all be thinking about preparations to ensure that our families, including our pets, will be well cared for during disasters. The following list provides a good overview of items to have on hand in the event of storms, earthquakes, or other disasters.

Disaster supply kit for pets
• Always have a collar with current ID, microchip, license, and rabies tags information
• Store current shot and health records in a waterproof container, such as a freezer bag
• Food and water bowls with enough food and water for at least seven days (per pet). Keep the food in a watertight container.
• A manual can opener on hand for opening canned food
• Plastic bags to dispose of pet waste
• Current photo or your pet/pets
• Pet carrier with plenty of bedding
• Leash
• Toys
• Medications
• First aid kit
• Grooming supplies
• Paper towels/wet wipes
• Flashlight and spare batteries
• Cat litter and litter box
