WASILLA — The Rotary Club of Wasilla has inked a three-year commitment to help the newly established nonprofit MyHouse creatively find solutions to the homeless youth crisis in the Mat-Su Valley.

Wasilla Rotary President Sondra Kaplan signed a memorandum of understanding with MyHouse Executive Director Michelle Overstreet in November 2012 to formalize its dedication to serve those in the community who are under-represented and neglected.

Kaplan presented MyHouse with a check for $11,000 thanks to fundraising at Rotary Club of Wasilla’s annual wine tasting event, Rotary Uncorked.

“These funds will assist in the development of the MyHouse’s outreach program, an essential element in their plan to change the way that the Valley works with homeless youth,” she said.

Wasilla Rotary will continue working with MyHouse through mentorships, fundraising, scholarships and the inclusion of youth in local Rotary community service projects.

Rotary Club of Wasilla meets at noon Wednesdays in the restaurant at the Grand View Inn and Suites, 2900 E. Parks Highway.
