Small business classes offered

Alaska Small Business Development Center offers the following workshops this month. Preregistration is required at aksbdc.org or 373-7232.

Classes meet at the Wasilla business development center, 201 N. Lucille St., Suite 2A, on the second floor of the KeyBank building, unless otherwise noted. The workshops are funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Oct. 24

Marni Crockett of Carney and Associates LLC presents “Basic Business Bookkeeping” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., a workshop designed to help small business owners understand the number of practical ways to keep sound financial records and discuss how to use that information when making key business decisions. The presentation is a combination of guidelines for small business record keeping and a simple practical exercise in the creation of financial statements. Cost: $90.

Crocket also presents “QuickBooks 2011 — Beginning” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for those who already have business bookkeeping knowledge or attended the “Basic Business Bookkeeping” workshop.

This hands-on (computers provided) workshop will provide information on using QuickBooks software for the beginner using the program for his/her business bookkeeping. Cost: $150.
