WASILLA — School has been cancelled at five Susitna Valley schools for Friday, Nov. 20 due to snowy winter weather.
The Mat-Su Borough School District made the announcement early Friday morning. The schools that are closed include Beryozova School, Su-Valley Jr/Sr High, Talkeetna Elementary, Trapper Creek Elementary and Willow Elementary.
It snowed overnight in the area, and the National Weather Service was predicting several more inches on Friday, with the heaviest snow expected at the northern end of the Susitna Valley. The Alaska Department of Transportation also issued several bulletins warning of difficult driving conditions Friday morning on both the Glenn and Parks Highway due to the storm.
All other schools in the district are open as usual.
