PALMER — Chad Meyer and Brian Hutton, part of SOWSEAR comic, will be at Fireside Books in Saturday.
Based in Anchorage and halfway through its second year of publication, SOWSEAR is a compilation of local comics from contributors across Alaska. Comics run the gamut from short personal anecdotes to prison stories to dreamlike fantasy narratives to the continuing adventures of characters like Shaman Pig and the superhero Red Mosquito.
Issue 5 is due out in March. All four current issues will be on hand from 3 to 6 p.m., Feb. 14 at Fireside Books in Palmer.
“We are trying to get more local artists involved. We pay $20 a page for work selected for print in the comics and have a cool new website that posts stuff about local comics and artists,” reads a press release distributed in advance of the Fireside appearance.
